Initial reaction:
Is this Phil Emory's long lost son? I mean, come on. Don't tell me you can't see the resemblence. Emery liked Trestman for the job the second he said goodbye to Lovie.

Personal Opinions:
Although I was pulling for
Bruce Arians, I like the hire. The initial goals were to find someone with an attention to detail and to improve the Bears' offensive production.
Marc Trestman has 19 years of NFL coaching experience (Offensive Coordinator, Quarterbacks Coach, Running Backs Coach) and 5 years as a Head Coach for the CFL's Montreal Alouettes. He has worked with and helped develop such names as Rich Gannon, Jake Plummer, Scott Mitchell and Steve Young, to name a few.
Another positive is the fact that he is well known for his ability to adapt to his personnel, as opposed to trying to fit his players with a certain scheme. The NFL is a copycat league and teams have changed their gameplanning to what is working for other successful teams. Trestman was part of the "no-huddle movement" before it became such a big part of today's game, so this ability to "stay ahead of the curve" will be vital to his success in Chicago. Failure to make in-game adjustments has killed the success of the past three offensive coordinators (Mike Tice, Mike Martz, Ron Turner.....gross).
Most view it as a risky and somewhat unpopluar pick, but he has similar experience and is compared to former Buffalo Bills coach
Marv Levy (who was also plucked from the CFL), which turned out pretty well for the Bills.
Let's be clear. I'm not saying that Trestman is going to be the next Bill Belichick, but I applaud Emery from the get-go. He was thourough laying out his expectations, vision and goals for the coaching vacancy and stayed true to what he felt was best for the future of the Bears.
Next order of business.....upgrade the OFFENSIVE LINE !!!

In my opinion, the way YOU perceive the hire of new Bears coach Marc Trestman says a lot about YOUR general outlook on life. You can be negative if you choose to be. You can be optimistic. If you know me at all, you know that I am the eternal optimist. Therefore, I choose to be openly optimistic about the decision. YOU???
